I'm a freelance photographer living in New Jersey after spending some of the last decade in Southern California. Some of my favorite places to shoot is the Cape Cod & the Islands on the East Coast & Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, San Diego and Monterey California on the West Coast. Cape Cod : Cape Cod is a seventy mile long penisula stretching eastward from Bourne to the tip at Provincetown.There are 40 miles of pristine Cape Cod National Seashore where mighty wave crash in from the east. Much of the east-facing Atlantic seacoast of Cape Cod consists of wide, sandy beaches. In 1961, a significant portion of this coastline was made part of the Cape Cod National Seashore by President John F. Kennedy, and is thus protected from development. My favorite part of Cape Cod is "LowerCape- OUTER Cape".The "Lower Cape" is the narrower portion of the cape, which bends sharply to the north. This section includes the towns of Brewster, Chatham, Eastham, Harwich, Orleans, Provincetown, Truro, and Wellfleet.

Whale Watching : Whale Watching Cape Cod on the Dolphin IX (June 2011) The Dolphin Fleet the originators of whale watching on the east coast and the largest, most successful and experienced fleet in the country starting back in 1975. Over a dozen companies regularly visit the sanctuary during Early April - Mid October.Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary is an 842-square-mile protected marine sanctuary located at the mouth of Massachusetts Bay, between Cape Cod and Cape Ann. It is known as an excellent whale watching site, and is home to many other species of marine life. The bank is, on average, 100 to 120 feet below the surface, while surrounding waters to the west are over 300 feet deep and to the northeast as deep as 600 feet. Some such fish are the Atlantic cod, yellow tail flounder, blue fin and yellow fin tuna, striped bass, blue fish and numerous species of shark including the Great White Shark. Fives species of seals; the Harp, Gray, Harbor, Hooded, and Ringed seal, and numerous whales species swim in the waters of Stellwagon. Whale watchers can frequently see Humpback Whales, Minke Whales, Fin Whales and, one of the most critically endangered whale species, North Atlantic Right Whales. Several other whale species can also be seen here including, the sperm whale, Beluga, Orca, Pilot whale, white beaked dolphin, Atlantic white-sided dolphin, Common dolphin, Bottlenose dolphin, Risso’s dolphin, Harbor porpoise and Blue whale. My Trip as per the Dolphin Fleet sighting Blog : June 20, 2011 On the Dolphin IX, 12:30 •18-25 Minke whales •5 Humpback whales Sea Conditions were flat calm on of the best days that had all year, offshore air temps were in 75-80 degrees. Charlotte Motor Speedway Coca Cola 600 : These pictures were shot during the 2007 Coca Cola 600 qualifing & practice sessions from pit road. Charlotte Motor Speedway features a 1.5-mile long quad-oval track that seats 167,000 people, with room for 50,000 more spectators in the infield. The track hosts two of NASCAR Spring Cup Series Racing events including the prestigious Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend and the Sprint All-Star Race. Thanks to Michael Waltrip Racing for the Hot Pass credentials for the weekend.

Hurricane Earl 2010 : Hurricane Earl was a powerful tropical cyclone which became the first major hurricane to threaten New England since Hurricane Bob back in 1991. The fifth named storm of the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season, Earl formed as a hurricane on August 25. On August 29, 2010 after first reported winds of 135 mph the storm weakened before strengthening to 145 mph on September 2. Earl then steadily weakened due to decreasing sea surface temperatures and glanced the outer banks of North Carolina then it dissipated on September 5. These shots were taken on Sept 2nd 2010 from White Crest Beach, Wellfleet Cape Cod Mass.

Jetsking : Jetskiing Cape Cod. Most of the these pictures were taken in Cape Cod Bay outside Rock Harbor in Eastham, MA. Some others were taken in Town Cove and Nauset Inlet. Rock Harbor is in Cape Cod Bay were the waters are more calm and much warmer than the Atlantic Ocean. Town Cove extends into Nauset Inlet. Nauset inlet goes into the rougher and very chilly North Atlantic. Even in the middle of the summer you will want to wear a short wetsuit. In the summer the water can be anywere from 52-65 degrees. Were is Cape Cod Bay sea surface temps can be as high as the lower 70's. This pic is with the full race wetsuit on in June. The water was in the lower 50's with a air temp of maybe 60 on a overcast day.

Southern California Surfing : "The Wedge" as locals call it is a surf spot located at the extreme east end of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California. When supplied with a south swell of the proper size and direction, it can produce shorebreak waves that are very spectacular, intimidating and dangerous. Newport Beach includes the following area's Corona del Mar, Newport Coast, San Joaquin Hills, and the Balboa Peninsula. Huntington Beach is another big surfing spot. HB Pier's south side is the home of the US Open of Surfing every August in which the worlds best surfers gather.

Merrill Creek : Located in central Warren County, New Jersey, Merrill Creek Reservoir is a 650 acre lake that is surrounded by 290 acres of protected woodland and fields. The lake is about two hundred thirty-five feet deep, making it the deepest man-made lake in New Jersey. This is one of two lakes in New Jersey where lake trout exist.
